Meet Jody Karow
Jody came to dog training with a question that reaches well beyond dogs: what makes learning possible?
Her earlier work in child advocacy and adolescent mental health shaped her attention to emotional safety. A later chapter in corporate technology sharpened her interest in how good ideas become systems people can actually use.
She began training dogs professionally in 2004 and earned her CTC from the Academy for Dog Trainers, founded by Jean Donaldson. Her experience includes work with Safe Hands Rescue, owning a dog daycare, and consulting on dog behavior for PetChatz video chat products.
Across those settings, the details mattered: a pause in play, a change in body language, the difference between a dog who knows a skill and a dog who can use it in a busy world. Those are still the details at the heart of her teaching.
Today, Jody leads Go Anywhere Dog®, a puppy and dog training school in Eden Prairie serving families across the Minneapolis–St. Paul area. She teaches in group classes and private sessions, develops the school’s curriculum, and writes the Speaking Dog blog.
Her method, Boundaries Without Trauma®, puts emotional safety at the foundation, then builds emotional regulation and practical skills. Clear boundaries belong in that picture. Pain, fear, and intimidation do not.
The aim is wonderfully ordinary: a dog who can join the family’s life, and a human who knows how to help.
