Motivating your dog in Twin Cities, MN

Dog Training Motivation – Properly motivated dogs live better lives!

All dog training takes motivation!  No motivation = No training.  When you have plans for living a social lifestyle with your dog, you’ll want to motivate your dog through things he likes.  You give your dog things he really likes for good behavior and take away things he likes to change that naughty behavior.  Using what your dog likes keeps us clear of things that could possibly scare your dog.  Just like you, when your dog gets scared or stressed out, it’s tough to be on your best behavior.  And of course we want the very best behavior when we’re out socially with our pups.

Build Cooperation with your Dog

Take the time & have loads of fun auditioning what treats & long lasting chews are among your dog’s favorites.  And do check out our personal favorite homemade dog treat recipe, Tuna Fudge.  It’s super economical & the dog’s I work with think it’s awesome!

Dogs are much like little kids, they just want to have fun.  It’s not tough at all to keep them happy, safe and well mannered. It all begins with managing their environment to keep them safe (and our things safe).  Redirect them to behaviors we prefer when they’re choosing to do things that we can’t live with.  Teach them with love and kindness what our expectations are in varying situations.  Provide them with opportunities for fun and exercise every day.  You get these right and your dog will bring you many years of joy together.

The piece I find missing for most of my clients is clear communication.  Isn’t it always communication that gets in the way of happy relationships?  Building a solid foundation of clear communication with your pup is no where as difficult as you think.  We’ll need to get you relying less on your words and more on actions.  You’ll teach your pup the words we want him to understand in the way he learn’s best.  Check out our dog training videos program for more information.

Don’t forget to tell us in the comments what dog training treats & long lasting chews are among your dogs favorites.  All of us joining together will make our communities better for people & dogs!

Until next time, Have Fun & Enjoy Your Dog!

  1. Communication is the key, I couldn’t agree more! I often find that owner’s think they are communicating one thing, “I hate it when you jump on me, STOP” but what the dog hears is, “I’m giving you attention” which is a positive thing, regardless of how we perceive it! Do you find the same type of thing happening with your clients?
